Maersk has introduced temporary booking restrictions affecting cargo movements to Khor Fakkan, Fujairah and selected destinations in the Upper Gulf, as disruption around the Strait of Hormuz and congestion at regional ports continue to affect delivery timelines.

The carrier said it is adjusting booking acceptance and cargo flows in response to the operational conditions. The measures are temporary and will be reviewed as circumstances develop.

Customers holding bookings affected by the restrictions will be contacted directly by their Maersk representative, the company said. Shipment-specific updates will include guidance on next steps and, where applicable, possible alternative arrangements.

Cargo already in transit remains exposed to delays. Maersk said customers will receive the latest available shipment status through their representative. Where the company cannot yet confirm a revised onward movement or delivery date, this will be stated in the shipment update.

For new cargo, bookings will be accepted only according to available capacity. Maersk cautioned that a revised booking should not be considered automatically moved to a subsequent sailing. Where operationally feasible, the carrier said it will discuss alternative arrangements with customers, including expected timing and applicable costs.

Any alternatives will remain dependent on operating conditions and capacity availability, Maersk said.

The advisory underlines the effect that disruption in and around the Strait of Hormuz, together with port congestion, is having on cargo planning for destinations served through the affected regional gateways. Maersk said its teams are continuing to assess available options for customers and will provide further updates as conditions evolve.
