M2INTELLIGENCE has completed the fleet-wide rollout of its GVMS solution across Newport’s vessels, expanding shore-based access to live and recorded visual information from onboard operations.
The deployment is intended to integrate onboard visual data into Newport’s daily fleet-management activities. Authorized shore teams can remotely follow activity in critical vessel areas, review operational events and incidents, and support vessel crews through troubleshooting, inspections, training and ship-shore collaboration.
According to M2INTELLIGENCE, the system provides a more direct view of vessel activity than relying only on reports, telephone calls or information received after an event has occurred.
Operational context
Newport’s fleet-wide implementation is expected to provide three immediate operational benefits: real-time visual access to vessel operations, faster and better-informed shore-side support, and a consistent monitoring environment throughout the fleet.
The GVMS infrastructure is also positioned as the visual-data foundation for M2INTELLIGENCE’s M2Ai capability. M2Ai combines camera information with vessel and operational data to support automated detection and real-time alerts.
The company said the next-stage system is designed to generate measurable operational and compliance indicators, as well as fleet-level trends and benchmarking. The objective is to help management teams progress from observing onboard activity to identifying events and conditions requiring attention.
The rollout places visual information at the centre of the operating link between vessel and shore, with recorded and live access supporting reviews of routine activities as well as incidents. Consistent deployment across the Newport fleet is intended to provide a common monitoring framework for shore-based personnel working with different vessels.
M2INTELLIGENCE described the completion of the project as a successful fleet-wide deployment of its GVMS solution. No further details were provided on the number of vessels involved, the timeline of the rollout or the specific onboard areas covered by the system.
